It will be 6 weeks post surgery for me tomorrow. I’ve had a period which was more painful than I’m used to. However, I was definitely pleased to have a bleed after suffering an ectopic pregnancy.
Since Thursday, I’ve been having pains which have gradually grown. I’m currently on day 13 of cycle since my first period/bleed. Tonight, I’ve been in agony and it’s moved to the bottom of my back at the right side. I have read a lot about ovulation pains and wondering what everyone’s experience of this is?
My right tube was removed during surgery.

I also had my first period after 5 weeks and it was the same feeling, painful and heavy…
What I would advise is rest as much as you can and drink water… I’ve actually been drinking warm water, not sure if you prefer that. Manuka honey is also good, I had a spoon of honey every morning it gave me energy and also eating dates can give you some energy … main thing is you need to rest rest and rest… i went to the GP today, and the GP said really to have a fully recover it can take up to 6 months to be totally fit and emotionally well…
Experiencing some pain after an ectopic pregnancy is normal as your body has been through a great deal over the last few weeks. The pain may be due to adhesions (scar tissue that binds two parts of the body together) which form and take some time to settle. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through. If you find you experience offensive smelling discharge or an increased temperature of more than 37°C or just want to be checked out to be on the safe side, it would be worth asking your doctors to run tests to check for infection. You should also be able to manage the pain with over the counter pain relief, if this is not the case, please speak to your GP.
If the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.
