Hi everyone,
Nervous wreck is an understatement!!
I thought I was okay with all of this but oh my goodness the emotional rollercoaster it still is even after 3 months!
It’s been 3 months & 4 periods since my methotrexate injection & we started to try again for a baby & we were both so excited & my due date for my period came & went im 4 days late & ive had 3 negative tests
I feel pregnant, I’ve had no pain, no bleeding but with my first baby my test came up positive the day before my period!
Did anyone else’s hcg levels rise slower after an ectopic?
Any advice or experiences welcome…talking with other people who have been threw this helps so much xxx
Hi Hollie,
Trying again after ectopic is a very stressful time. I also had a very similar situation on my second month of trying after waiting 6months since my ectopic pregnancy. I also had a blood test to be sure I was not pregnant. It came negative and few days later I had my period. If you are not very regular it could be that you have ovulated later and in this case it may not come positive just yet. I would suggest to wait few more days and repite the test. It could also be that you are a bit nervous and this is the reason to delay your period. If it is ectopic you should have a posite test so do not be worry. Try to relax as much as you can. I wish you all the best. Tere
Dear Holliexxxxxx,
Pregnancy tests may not always show as positive so it will be worth repeating it in a few days time.
It can be completely normal for periods to be irregular for a few months after treatment, mine took around 4 months to settle into a rhythm that was more normal for me.
Periods can be delayed for a number of reasons including stress or even (as surprising as it may sound) excessive exercise or weight loss. Doctors normally consider menstrual cycles of between 23-42 days to be within normal parameters. So if it gets to more than 42 days since the first day of your last period, I would suggest asking your doctors to investigate further. Also, while I do not want to alarm you, if you experience any pain or unusual bleeding, please do get medical attention as soon as you can.
Sending much love,
Karen x
