Hi all,
I’ve had 2 doses of methotrexate and after the 2nd we started seeing significant drops in my hcg. However my last 2 blood tests have both been 28, and we are nervous it has plateaued. I have no internal bleeding and the ectopic itself is smaller. If it continues to remain at 28 I will need to have surgery. Has anyone had this kind of plateauing before? Or a slow down on the way to 0? I’m hopeful I won’t have to resort to surgery after coming this far
Thanks
Dear Sarahkate,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Yes, I have heard from women whose hCG levels plateau for a few weeks when getting down to the lower numbers. Hopefully you should continue to see a reduction in the next few weeks, although I appreciate this can be quite frustrating when the levels are taking so long to reduce.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Thanks Karen! My hcg test today was 21, so its going down albeit very slowly! Good to know its not uncommon for the smaller numbers to take longer to reach 0.
