Methotrexate side effects

Hey all! I had methotrexate last thursday for a pregnancy of unknown location. My hcg that day was 2101, and I had blood drawn two days later and it was 2242. I know it won’t really drop until after day 4. I have my next draw tomorrow so I’m hoping the levels are going down!

I have just felt really blah. I have had some mild cramping, dizziness, nausea here and there, and super tired. I did have a small amount of pink discharge/bleeding yesterday and today. Mainly it has been some dizziness and mild cramping. Did anyone else have symptoms like this? I’m naturally on high alert and very aware of every cramp or pain in my body, always assuming the worst. I just can’t wait for this to be over with, I just want to feel normal again.

Dear Icbsc,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,

I too had methotrexate and was surprised by the level of sheer exhaustion that I felt. I found that my bleeding and cramping worsened around day 7 after the injection.

Here is some information regarding methotrexate including common side effects.

Unfortunately I am not medically trained cannot if you experience any worsening or concerning symptoms, I would advise seeking urgent medical advice. Normally The EPU give a direct number for you to contact with any concerns, If this is not the case, please speak to your GP, call NHS 111 if out of hours or 999/A&E with any severe symptoms.

Sending much love,
