Dear Mariaf,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
When we experience ectopic pregnancy we are suddenly faced with a life threatening emergency and it’s treatment, reduction in fertility, concerns about the future and the loss of our babies. Experiencing any one of these is an ordeal, putting them together is immense and your feelings are completely normal.
I had a week off work following methotrexate injection for my ectopic pregnancy and in hindsight, this was not enough time. I was bleeding quite heavily and my pain worsened around 5-7days after the injection. Added to this was the sheer exhaustion I felt after the injection (another common side effect) and coming to terms emotionally with the shock of what I had been through and the loss of my baby.
We also advise not to do any heavy lifting or exercise until your levels have reached pre-pregnancy levels, so I am not sure if this impacts you with the type of job you do.
Above all be kind to yourself, don’t rush back to work and speak to your GP if you need additional time off.
We will be here for you for as long as you need,
Sending much love,
Karen x
