Interstitial Ectopic Pregnancy discovered after tube removal

Hello all- I was in the hospital from last week from Thursday until yesterday on a 7 day regimine of methotrexate. I had my left tube removed last week Saturday because they thought that was where the pregnancy was… well it wasnt. My tube was damaged anyway and needed to be removed. They then discovered my hcg levels were still increasing and then found the sac on the right side of my uterus in the interstitial or cornual location. This is the location right where your Fallopian tube opens up in to your uterus. So the embryo is still not in the endometrium where it needs to be. It’s high risk for rupture and is 15x more likely to rupture than a tubal eptopic- or so I have been told. I left the hospital against medical advice. I missed my kids and hated being there. I just got my 4th dose of methotrexate this afternoon and have another ultrasound on Friday. Still so many unknowns. I just want this nightmare to be over so I can move forward with my life. Has anyone had an interstitial? I am looking for someone who has had this same type of eptopic. Thank you.

Hi Mclay,

I’m so very sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss, and that you have gone through surgery and continue to need MTX. I had a cornual ectopic as my 2nd ectopic. It occurred in the scar tissue of where my right tube was removed. At the time they diagnosed, they put me on MTX. However, mine did rupture. It was a severe emergency, but they saved my uterus and I went on to conceive naturally.

I can absolutely understand not wanting to be in the hospital and wanting to be with your family during these times. Please do really take time to look after yourself during this round of MTX. Until HCG numbers are under 5mIU/ml you are still considered pregnant, and sadly, still at risk of rupture.

I have linked to the Trust’s information on symptoms, especially related to shoulder tip pain as indication of a rupture. https://www.ectopic.org.uk/patients/sym … diagnosis/

I’m sending all my good thoughts your way.

With good wishes,

Michele
