Hello all.
I had a super traumatic ruptured ectopic pregnancy in March 2015 where I had internal bleeding and had my left tube removed. That Summer, I also had a silent miscarriage.
Since then, I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety, ibs and possible adhesions. The gynaecologist I saw last Summer advised that I try and get pregnant asap (I’m 32) and that when I am, to contact my GP to arrange an early scan. However, as I was struggling with mental and physical illness, I had to leave my job as a teacher, and have only recently started to feel more like myself and started working again, I didn’t want to try again until I’d been back at work for a while and was fully ready.
Here’s why I’m worried… a couple of days after my last period, I woke up feeling pregnant. It’s the same way I felt before I had a miscarriage and I’ve been feeling nauseous at work. I knew it was way too soon, but I did a test which came back negative, so decided to see if the feeling stayed the same. It’s a week later, and I still feel pregnant! I’m worried that if I am pregnant and I wait until I miss my next period, then if it is ectopic, I could lose my other tube! Should I give it another couple of weeks? If I contacted my GP would they even be able to test this early anyway?
Thanks for reading and any for any advice, I’m trying not to get too anxious about it!
Dear Autumnleaves,
My heart goes out to you for all you have gone through. An ectopic pregnancy is both a physical and emotional trauma. It takes time to recovery, and this recovery is different for each one of us. It’s very wise of you to wait until you are ready to TTC, and realize that there should be no external pressure to do so.
I can understand the worry you are feeling with your current situation. As you have had your last period, the uterine lining will have shed and the pregnancy test will likely have shown a negative sign. However, our bodies speak to us in many ways. You may want to consider the date of you last time of intercourse and your next ovulation. Home pregnancy tests become more accurate after ovulation and closer to the date of a missed period. As you are concerned, you can always schedule an appointment with your GP. Urine or blood tests will show rising HCG levels, which will indicate pregnancy.
Having gone through such a traumatic experience as you have can make us anxious about similar situations in the future. Please do be kind to yourself and look after yourself.
With good wishes,
Michele

Thank you for your reply Michele and thank you for your kind words. I’m feeling less anxious than I was when I posted. I think I’ll leave it another week, then do another test:)
