I am a 35 year old woman, have been TTC since September 2013, had an ectopic on my right side in December 2013, treated successfully with Methotrexate and I got to keep my tube. Miscarriage at 5.5 weeks in April 2014. We have been trying to get pregnant since then with no luck. Fertility MD referred me for a HSG which I had yesterday. The confusing thing is that the test shows that my right side is open and my left side is blocked! I really don’t understand this as my ectopic was on the right side. I was expecting the opposite or that both would be blocked.
Anyway, I have an appointment with my MD in two weeks so I will see what he’ll say. I doubt he will refer me for IVF (it is covered in the province I live in), the radiologist said he could do a procedure to unblock the left side under interventional radiology to increase my chances. In the meantime I guess we will keep trying naturally since apparently the right side is open but I’m a bit hesitant to do so in case it would cause another ectopic. I know that, however, after the HSG your chances of conceiving are increased so I am a bit torn.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
