I had an ectopic pregnancy at 6 weeks and had my left tube surgically removed in January, i’m thinking of having a HSG test on my right and only tube to ensure that it’s healthy with no blockage just for my peace of mind, even though the doctor who carried out the surgery said my right tube “looked” good, for the ladies who are familiar with this procedure or have had this procedure after an ectopic, some advise will be great, can you get it through the NHS? or better private? did you find that there was a blockage in the tube even though the doctor said tube looked good? is the myth true about successful bfp’s right after the HSG procedure?
I have two children with 2 healthy pregnancies so i know at least one of my tubes works/worked, or both… I guess i will never know without the HSG? or should i leave it alone and just keep TTC? I’ve been TTC since march (5 months).
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. When we think about TTC, we experience a mix of emotions from wanting to try again to being petrified of what may lie ahead.
While generally it is possible to conceive after an ectopic pregnancy, the amount of time it takes varies from couple to couple. Factors include age, general health, reproductive health and how often you have sex, among other things. It may be comforting to know that 65% of women are successfully pregnant within 18 months of experiencing an ectopic pregnancy and some studies suggest this rises to around 85% after two years.
Importantly, help is available if conceiving naturally has not yet been successful after some time trying - and the EPT advises that women under 35 should seek medical advice following 12 months trying to conceive and those over 35 should seek advice after 6 months.
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on further investigations, but I would advise discussing this with your GP,
Sending much love,
Karen x

I had my hSG test today on my remaining tube after two ectopics in a row (right removed, left treated with MTX). They said tube is clear but now will wait and see if we can conceive naturally.
It was a little painful, more discomfort than anything but good to get for piece of mind. Good luck and let us know how you go. I’m in Australia and this procedure was done for free.
How did your hsg go? I was treated with methotrexate a momth ago. I still have mass in tube, but would like to get a hsg as soon as possible to see if tube has fully recovered and see if other is open
Hi More2come , thank you for replying, i ended up falling pregnant in August without the HSG, was planning on carrying out the procedure if nothing happened, your tube is clear so no reason why it cannot happen naturally, i’m having twins as well so it only takes one tube to do the job, I hope all goes well for you.

Hi I’m in Australia too. Out of curiosity how did you go about getting this done? Thanks
