Hi everyone, it’s been 5 weeks since I’ve been discharged from epu and I’ve gotten my first period. It’s 4:45 am and I’ve been woke up with the pain, just went to the toilet and it’s so heavy and it’s all just reminding me of the horrendous time I went through with my ectopic it’s really quite triggering ! I had read that your first period could be quite bad I just don’t think I was prepared for this and the feelings it would cause

I’m so sorry that your period arrived with such intensity. I know that periods can return differently than before our ectopic pregnancies. Women report feeling different levels of pain, flows, and sensations. It can be very triggering, especially as your ectopic pregnancy was not very long ago.
I encourage you to take it easy today and rest as you can. If the pain continues, you may record the intensity and the type of pain relief which helped (e.g. hot water bottle, paracetamol). You may find that your periods differ for several months until a regular pattern is re-established.

Thank you Michele ! I will do, I just wasn’t expecting to feel like that but I suppose it is very soon after. After 6 weeks of non stop bleeding as well I really cba with having a period but hoping it doesn’t last too long !

Hey Emma! I hope you’re ok and the pain and flow eases soon. Rest up and use it as an excuse for extra chocolate… I know I will be whenever my first period arrives !

hi! i am about sick weeks post-op for my ectopic and i also got my first period last week. I am sorry you had the pain, i was lucky and i didn’t get that, which is funny because i would normally have the pain come just before i started bleeding. instead i have actually been having a lot of back pain! the bright red colour was also a bit scary too. wishing you luck!
Ugh I can confirm, first period post ectopic sucks. Mine came today and it’s been horrible and I’ve never suffered pain or discomfort before with periods.
So that pain two weeks ago was ovulation pain.
So am I just going to be in pain every 2 weeks until meno now? I really hope not!
BUT it’s a blessing because my body feels like it’s finally syncing again
