Find myself feeling really quite down. Ectopic in end of Sept/October resulted in surgery & tub removed. Cycle returned & we were not careful and fell pregnant. Fortunate to fall fast however clearly not having success in pregnancy continuing. Bleeding started 5 weeks 5 days bloods rapidly dropped nothing on ultrasound so confident early miscarriage. Don’t think they can definitely say right now wasn’t another ectopic but with bloods dropped they seem to think unlikely. Really awful experience overall with EPU & hospital gyne team in general. Worried about falling again and returning there. Got a appt with gyne doctor tomorrow to further chat. Feel very deflated, what’s going on with my body…. ? Questions I should ask, tests I could ask they can run? Go via GP or Gyne? Was it too soon after surgery? I’m going to have a couple of cycles now to have a break as mentally and physically think that’s for the best. But really starting to wonder if a second baby if not going to happen. 1st pregnancy nothing like this and very greatful for my gorgeous little 4yr girl I have. Any support would be lovely. Thwnks
Dear Soph,
I am so sorry to hear of your pregnancy loss. Dealing with one loss is difficult, experiencing multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.
It is important to know that there is no association between ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage. Sadly miscarriage is common, affecting 1 in 4 pregnancies.
As for ectopic pregnancy, there is a 20% risk of another following the first, but i always remind people thats an 80% chance of a successful pregnancy. Unfortunately, nothing can guarantee a successful pregnancy. We have more information on trying to conceive post ectopic pregnancy on our website here and that may give you some more information and questions to ask a specialist

People do conceive following ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage so do not give up hope just yet. As you say, taking a little time to recover both physically and mentally may well be a good idea.
We will be here for you for as long as you need.
Sending much love,
