Expectant management after ectopic, how long to wait?

Hi all, I would just like some advice or any similar experiences (good or bad) if you don’t mind sharing as I am all googled out! I had an ectopic pregnancy at 5 weeks in Feb. It was able to be managed without surgery or an injection even though it took over a month for my hcg levels to drop below zero. Four weeks after I think I am having a period, much lighter than normal although my periods have never been particularly heavy. I would like to start ovulation testing again this month and start trying again but am not really clear if it’s ok to do so or is it safer to wait for another month or two as am I am more risk of this happening again if it’s too soon?

Hi Claire,

I know it has been a while since you posted this, but i was wondering if you are still around? I too was expectantly managed and my levels have only just gone down last week. How have things been for you in the last couple of months?

Sara

Hi Sara,

I had been meaning to reply to this post to update so thanks for posting as it reminded me. I had my first period again in April following the ectopic and one in May and fell pregnant the following month. I’m now 25 weeks and all going well. I had early scans this time round too because of the ectopic everything else has been fairly standard.Hopefully this post will be encouraging to anyone else out there who’s had a similar experience.

Not sure if that helps you much but feel free to ask any other questions

Claire

I had an ecoptic pregnancy left tube removed- stitches on the uterus … doctor advised I wait 6 months …
