Eptopic can not locate where mtx or surgery options

Just had a second scan and bloods back saying numbers up to 3700… and that somewhere in my andomen is an eptopic pregnancy.

Options I have been given is to take Mtx. I feel concerned about this as I ALWAYS have bad reactions to medication and it doesnt even guarantee success.

takes 3 to 6 months to ttc after.

They warned against surgery as too concerned about my endo scaring causing an issue… plus THEY DO NOT know where the embryo is implanted??

I’m feeling really conflicted about what to do?

Anyone been in similar situations

Dear Nj23,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy,

If you are concerned about the treatment options, I would talk through your concerns with a medical professional who has access to your medical records for last medical history and drug reactions.

What I will say is that methotrexate is used as it is less invasive than surgery, also the wait to ttc is to wait until your hCG levels are back to normal and then take folic acid supplements for 12 weeks regardless of you have one of two injections.

Following surgery we also recommend waiting for 2 full periods which is usually around the 3 months mark too. I

I’m sorry I cannot be more specific, but I hope your specialists can help you come to a decision you feel comfortable with.

Sending much love and warm hugs,

Karen x

It’s definitely best to speak to the doctor to talk you through it. I’m only similar to you in that my pregnancy was in an unknown location too. The scans they saw nothing. They only think it was in my left tube because that’s where I said the pain came from.

I mean the methotrexate you will very likely have symptoms whether you react to other medications badly or not, it is a form of chemo, a toxin designed to stop any dividing cells in your body, but if successful will help get you back to pre pregnancy. I had the methotrexate, it was like an out if body experience because I felt extreme thirst, loss my appetite, very all over the place. There are other symptoms that are possible. I was upset about having to wait 3 months to TTC too but it turned out my hcg took 10weeks post injection to get to 0 anyway.

My plan is if I have another etopic I will have surgery, only because there’s clearly an issue there, surgery they will very likely remove the tube with the pregnancy. That’s something for you to think about your tube being likely removed if you did the op.

Definitely talk more to your doc.
