Is there any one out there who has had an ectopic scar pregnancy?
A few weeks ago I learnt this is what I have. I had to have 2 emergency C-section with my boys, and this baby has made his way through the tube but has fixed to the scar tissue from previous C-sections.
My choices were, to terminate or continue the pregnancy but I am at high risk for so many things including the baby not making it. My scar could open around 16 weeks (I am currently 10) resulting in loosing the baby and probably having hysterectomy. Even if I terminate early on I could still have to have a hysterectomy. If I manage to go further than that I would have to deliver early and again will need to have a hysterectomy.
Every thing for me seemed to result in the same thing, high change of loosing the baby and having a hysterectomy. So for me it is worth the fight to continue.
This is not what my partner wanted. Not only am I doing my best to be “normal” for my boys and put on a happy face, even though all I want to do is to be left alone in a room until the baby is ready, things are not great between us.
Theres not much out there with regards to ectopic scar pregnancy and I feel like I am the only one out there going through this when I am sure I am not.
It would be great to talk to others with similar if not the same issue.
I am so sorry to hear of the worrying time you and your partner are going through. You are right that Caesarean section ectopic pregnancy is still relatively uncommon and so some hospitals see very few of them. We have information here on our website specifically for healthcare professionals on c-scar ectopic and you may some of this of value: http://www.ectopic.org.uk/professionals … egnancies/
The treatment of caesarean scar pregnancies is potentially difficult so management has to be individualised on a case by case basis. It is hugely important to speak to your doctors about your treatment. They have access to your medical records and are best placed to guide you. Enduring an ectopic pregnancy is extremely difficult and particularly in circumstances where such hard decisions need to be made. I understand the toll it takes on women and their families especially where there are no clear answers. You are right that there are sadly risks with each option and your doctors are best placed to guide in light of these very demanding (both physically and emotionally) circumstances.
What I can say is that as you have concerns, you are entitled to discuss these with her doctors and even seek a further opinion. As much as I wish I could give you additional guidance, I am afraid I have no definitive answers as I am not medically qualified. You are perfectly entitled to speak to her doctors again (and indeed as much as you wish) about how you is now feeling and seek the opinion of another consultant too if that may help you think things through.
With good wishes,
Michele

Hi there, how r u getting on? Did you make any decision? I had a tubal ectopic three weeks ago and underwent surgery. What I didn’t know was that it was a twin pregnancy and I also have a pregnancy in the lower section of my uterus which the sonographer said is ‘moving down’ -no heartbeat. I have a scan next Thursday to see if a heartbeat develops. Even if it does I’m terrified as this baby is very low down and although they didn’t mention that it was in my c section scar, everything I’ve seen on the internet says that c section scar pregnancies are often misdiagnosed as threatened miscarriages. I had a caesarean with my youngest and have never been happy with how it healed. Anyway, sorry to have waffled. I just wanted to say I get it. This has been dragging on for me since 07/08 now and I’m losing my mind xxx
