Hi,
I had an ectopic pregnancy at the end of February, which was closely monitored by the early pregnancy unit over a week & a half. They found internal bleeding, which actually got worse as the days went by, the decision was then made to have an emergency laparoscopy as my abdomen was completely filled with blood.
I had the surgery, which resulted in having one of my tubes removed.
I slowly recovered & got back to feeling normal.
About 4 weeks ago myself & my partner had a little accident & the day after I went & got the morning after pill.
I was informed after taking the tablet, that women who have a history of ectopic pregnancy shouldn’t take the morning after pill…is this correct?
Anyway so my period was due on Sunday just gone, but nothing has appeared.
I haven’t had any bleeding or pain, but my shoulders, neck & arms have been aching.
I’ve also had some crampy sensations, but nothing painful at all.
Due to the coronavirus I have been working from home on a laptop & I’m wondering if I may have strained myself, but part of me is concerned that I could be pregnant again.
I did a pregnancy test yesterday & it was negative.
Could someone please give me some advice?
Thanks x
Hi Charlou1980,
I am so sorry to hear you are going through this worrying time. It is natural that we have anxieties following our ectopic pregnancy and in future pregnancies, even if unintended. I’m not medically qualified to comment on your specific situation but would encourage you to reach out to your GP as you are having concerns. You may also want to repeat the pregnancy test to see if the outcomes change at all. It may provide more peace of mind if the negative readings are consistent, but certainly, if you have any changes in your pain or sensations, it is important to reach out to your doctor.
With good wishes,
Michele
