Early Pregnancy & Surgery Adhesion Worries

Hi all,

I’m hoping anyone can provide some advice, information or reassurance.

I’m in the very early stages of pregnancy again (4+2) since my laparoscopy surgery for my ectopic 6 months ago.

Since my surgery I’ve had intermittent chronic pelvic/abdominal pain and constipation at certain points in my cycle. I am now having this more regularly and the more I log in my pain diary and read online, I’m pretty sure i have an adhesion from the surgery which is causing my pain and bowel issues.

I’m now worried that the pain and bowel issues will become worse in pregnancy as the baby grows. I’m even more worried whether any adhesion/tear could cause more serious problems as the baby grows and it won’t be treatable as surgery to release the adhesion is not possible while pregnant.

Has anyone had any similar experiences or advice they can share?

From one very worried member :pensive:

Hi Louise M,

I am so sorry to hear about this worrying time you are going through. While I’m not medically qualified to comment on your specific situation, I highly encourage you to reach out to your GP and doctors with the information you’ve been logging in your journal. While scar tissue from surgeries can be felt afterwards, it’s also very important to find out if something else might be going on.

I highly encourage you to reach out to your doctors with these concerns.

With good wishes,

Michele
