I had an ectopic pregnancy which resulted in surgery to remove my left fallopian tube. 6 months later I fell pregnant and feel very lucky to have had our first baby a year ago, via c section.
Since then however the pain in the site where my tube was removed has been really painful and getting worse every month. It is a very specific pain that feels so similar to the pain I experienced with the ectopic - in a very specific point directly below my scar.
The GP has told me this is pain from adhesions that I will experience for ever and it’s just a case of pain management. This obviously feels really disheartening and pretty bleak to think I will always now have this dull ache that gets worse when I get my period or ovulate.
I feel quite alone in the experience and wondered if anyone else has experienced this?
I’m also keen to gain any advice on whether this is likely to impact my fertility, given the adhesions are on the other side to my remaining healthy tube?
Any thoughts or advice would be massively appreciated.
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and continued pain.
I also suffered from pain following my ectopic pregnancy. After a few months I went to my GP who referred me for further investigations. I didn’t have those investigations as I fell pregnant before my appointment.
If the pain continues and is impacting on your life/work, I would suggest keeping a diary, noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10, how it affects you and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. I woul revisit your GP with this information and ask for further investigations if you remain concerned.
Sending much love,
