Hi ladies, I had a midwife appointment today and after she checked the baby’s heartbeat she seemed certain that I am having a baby boy !!! they couldn’t tell us at the scan cause the little one had its legs crossed.
I was just wondering how many of you have had this prediction from a midwife and turned out to be accurate or agreed with what you’ve been told at the scan?
Georgia
22w+3d
Did your midwife correctly predict the gender of your baby based on its heartbeat rate?
Thanks for your replies ladies. Hope I get few more responses, cause it would be really interesting to find out whether this gender prediction method works or not!!
my midwife doesnt have one of those machines that calculates b.p.m but at one appt said it looked like 145 b.p.m .i dont know what the stats are on how many beats means what for each sex?what do you reckon?
Well they say, if you’re having a girl, then the fetal heart rate will be above 140. A boy will have a heart rate below 140.
But they can only say if you pass a certain amount of weeks. My midwife was only able to tell me at 22+ weeks. My baby’s heartbeat was 121/71 when I was 18w+3d and 120/70 when I was 22w+1d.
Hiya, Georgia! I didn’t have a midwife, and my doctor never gave me any gender predictions on the heartbeat, but I had heard of the method from my mom. It held true for me, both my girls’ heartbeats stayed around 155-160bpm. I did have one nurse try to tell me that my first daughter was going to be a boy by how I was carrying, even though we had already had an ultrasound!
