Does anyone TTC just by having regular sex throughout their cycle or are we all OV watchers to some degree?! What do you do? I’m just being nosey! It’s good to talk!
I’m a charter and about to be a OPK-er so this month I’m a busy girl !
When we went to see the gynae consultant after my ep she advised us to BD every other day throughout the month…we tried this and it was too tiring, poor old DH even developed a headache at one point!!!
We tried the every 2nd day theory for a while but jeez, we’re busy people, thats a lot of sex!
So now I temp and knicker-check as you so nicely put it! It’s worked for us twice, now I just have to try to get the bean in the right place, thats seems to be the trickiest part for us.
Knicker checker, ov pain watcher and bd from when AF leaves to when AF arrives (or thereabouts). Don’t chart, temp, wee on sticks… just use the trusty Kylie calendar to plot cd1, when I guess I should ov, when I think I’ve ov’d, when we should bd, when we have bd, when cd1 starts again.
Wondering whether one of the above methods may help further, but am pretty in tune with my body and the only thing that I want to control I can’t - that I ov from the tubed side (left).
Knicker checker, ov pain watcher, bd whenever we can, some optimism, a whole lot of stress when it’s time to bd again (panic attacks almost), and a fear of BFP. What a recipe for success… is that  or or
We BD regularly throughout the month and pray for the best so that’s what I voted. I have decided to chart this month, so got a thermometer and I am going to use my monitor too. I guess these are to check that I am ‘working’ :? cos DH doesn’t know so it aint like I get my peak and run and jump on him….maybe that’s where I’m going wrong. When I saw my consultant for my scan he said BD every other day from day 10 until after I ov.
When the girls get their BFPs I am always dying to ask…what worked for you? Is it what you have always done? Did you try something new?
i have been using opk’s but have decided next month (if not pregnant which sure im not!) to just bd every other day for 2 weeks in middle of cycle. I did this when i conceived my daughter so maybe it will work!
i find using the opk a bit stressfull and my dh hates them as he says its too inpersonal! ive got myself in such a state over it its probably why im not getting pregnant!
Wasn’t too sure which to put, so I decided that we fall under the “Other” category!!! I’ve never been into the temping or charting or anything. For one, I’m so green I’m blinding, so I haven’t a clue about those methods, second is that stuff like that go over my head and I’d likely screw it up! LOL So… good ol’ fashioned BD whenever we felt like it! I did try to do an ovulation calendar on the computer, but that was obviously off! I was on a strict 29d cycle while on my bc patch, but that flew out the window once I stopped, so there went predicting!!! Instead of avoiding Jan for medical reasons, we bd on the weekend we were Ov, not knowing, and got pg!!! i"m such a failure!!! LOL!!!
for the last three months I tried everything on the list, but I must say it has pretty much removed the fun factor from the whole process. Also, I have become a ttc freak that won’t stop thinking about ttc for a second.
Well, I am sick of it, so this month I am giving up temping, charting, OPK, etc. We are just gonna go with the flow and see what happens.
I’m gonna need a lot of support from you gals…
wishing you a wonderful day (or evening for many of you)
so far just bd as often as we can this month we have gone for the all time record if this doesnt work then my next post will be “how do you get pregnant?”
it is our 4 th month of ttc i must say i find it easier to deal with failure each month i kind of expect it now the first 2 months i would cry but i think i have mentally detached myself and try to focus on having a good time with or without af. soon if nothing happens though i will consider other methods.
I’ve been in the hope for the best and BD throughout cycle camp - whenever we feel like it rather than on strict rota as that worked last time (apart from baby being in wrong place). However, after lots of thought have decided to have a change of tactics -I’m going scientific and getting an OPK this month 'cos cycle all over the place so have no idea when or if I’m ovulating. Just got back from holiday (AF came too - hope she likes France and stays there!) Had a great time but got back last night to lots of news from pregnant friends which upsets me even though I’m happy for them so had crappy night’s sleep and think a change of ttc tactics might help - at least I feel like I’m taking control somehow by doing the OPK thing. Anyway, enough of my post-holiday blues moaning! I’d better get back to work …
Well up until i had my last little girl i never thought about Ov or temps or anything it just happened…
Now im this totally obssessed person
We were trying to do it over OV dates but seemed to BD either right at the beginning of OV or after OV…
This month i started ov on sunday and have BD eveyday other than yesterday and my full ovulation day is today so guess we will have to get on it at some point today lol!! :? :?
Guess i have the same opinion as DH now, bless him if it happens it happens but i know wel both be exstatic if and when it does… Thought it was DH being ovassive but after a family chin wag at a bbq at the weekend i found out its purely because after my EP the consultant said id be lucky to have anymore.
First our dr said to BD every second day from day 10 to 22 of your cycle. With my DD that was the only thing we did, except for Clomid as well.
This time we did it every second day AND OPK’s AND charting AND clomid AND I tried to recognise the “rumblings”
I believe you should have this “pool” of your dear other’s produce inside by the time you OV. But then I do the charting and OPK’s just to put my mind at ease that I did OV. (With me it does not happen by itself and sometimes it does not happen no matter what) So I like to monitor if and when I OV, so that I can keep track of when I’m really late, or when I had no OV and need some help again.
When I phoned my dr for my Clomid prescription this last month, he said it seems like I am not understanding something, and I was totally shocked and asked what he means by that, and he said he’s just not sure we’re doing our bit! I almost laughed at him, as DH and I we’re also on the verge of developing misterious headaches! But seems like we did understand that something after all!
I didnt know really what to put for this one as I will say to all that will listen that I BD’d whenever the mood took me but in reality I think sub-consciously I knew (through knicker checking!!) when I was OV’ing and may have made an extra special effort. Do you know those times when you are not really that tired, you don’t have a headache and you don’t need to get up early but for some reason you just can’t be bothered doing it?? Well I think that when I knew I was Ov’ing I thought to myself “come on love, pull yourself together and get cracking” whereas at other times I might have thought “sod it, night honey” and rolled over. For the month I got the BFP, I was in the Far East CD1-8 so would have BD’d defo on CD8 (upon return obviously, not on the plane with a random passenger") and I think every day except CD11 and CD12 (as I remember thinking I’d missed my window!") and then prob each day after that until about CD23 when it would have got more random. If I remember rightly there were a couple of morning sessions that month as well (CD8 as I got back off my flight in the morn and DB was still in bed when I got back so thought it would be a good time and on morning of CD 13 as i felt bad about not doing it the night before when I had beaucoup de EWCM but was too drunk to be bothered!!). Oh, my cycles are approx 27 days.
Reading it back it doesnt look like it will be much help to anyone as it looks a bit random but I suppose in some ways it shows that it is not an exact science that can be controlled as even if you do it at the right times and the egg is fertilised it might not implant or there may be some other variable that doesnt happen to fit in with that month. I am gonna vote BD whenever as I think its underated in the BD world!
At the moment I am an OPK girl. Not because I think it’s better than any other methods, but because it actually stops me obsessing too much. Firstly it’s reassuring to see the LH surge, and secondly I know I’m BD-ing at the right time, and I can’t do much more than that.
What a good poll, Angie! I do opks and temp (knicker checker! lol) Sometimes I do the saliva microscope but I really don’t think that is reliable. I started doing the opk’s because it helps with narrowing the days down (dh and I hate the obligatory bd thing. For one thing my dh gets up at 4:00 am and has to go to work! Who ever feels like doing it then? Not me! So the opks help, if it’s negative I just go back to sleep! Love and hugs, Kimi
Thought I’d bump this one up - cos it’s interesting and quite funny to see some of the now graduates to the pg & parents board and what they did.
Have to say the very other day method was exhausting and just felt like you were BD’g for the sake of ttc and felt like you had to rather than wanted to. So now it’s whne we feel like it - luckily eough I feel like it more at OV time - and no it’s not just cos of the knicker checking results
I’ve been pregnant twice (one daughter, and then the ectopic in Nov.), both times without going to any particular lengths to keep an eye on my cycle.
This is our first month ttc since the ectopic. I have been keeping a closer eye on the calendar than I ever have before – starting to feel some pressure as I’m not getting any younger! – and going for a bit more frequency than I might have if we weren’t looking for a baby. It’s been a fun week, we’re certainly not tired of trying yet. If after a few months we have no positive, I shall probably start getting obsessive about it.
