9 weeks pregnant following cornual ectopic

Back in June I was rushed into hospital with a cornual ectopic which had already ruptured. I did not even know I was pregnant as I continued to have monthly bleeds but could sense something was wrong, as I had other bleeding and some pain. I saw my GP as well as a consultant at a private hospital, but all failed to diagnose what was wrong. Apparently, a cornual ectopic is very rare. By the time of the operation I had lost 3 liters of blood and had to have a cornual resection (an operation to repair the rupture between the tube and womb) as well as several blood transfusions. Three months later I got pregnant again. I am now 9 weeks and have yet to see the consultant. Has anyone on here had a baby following this type of ectopic? Did you have to have an early c-section? There is not much information out there, but I read that it’s dangerous to go into labour as the contractions could cause a further rupture.

Last year (before the ectopic), I also had a miscarriage at around 9.5 weeks. Now I am a bit scared this could happen again. Is there a risk of rupture if I were to miscarry? I cannot find any info about this anywhere.

Dear meerjungfrau

Whispered congratulations. It is very natural to feel worried after what you have been through. I wasn’t sure whether you have had an early scan to check that this pregnancy is in the right place? If not, you should have this done as soon as possible.

I can understand worrying about the birth, but hopefully by the time you are ready to give birth you will have had the opportunity to speak with a consultant about the risks, if any (I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to your actual question).

I know it is easier said than done, but please take each step as it comes and try not to worry about “what ifs”. I hope the consultant is able to reassure you or to offer you more information about labour.

Much love
