8 weeks of expectant management

Just coming on here as I’m 8 weeks going through expectant management with what consultant is still referring to as a suspected ectopic pregnancy. Going for weekly hcg blood checks after being kept in for 2 nights in hospital to be monitored and hcg levels have dropped from 4,400 at peak 7 weeks ago to 200 last week so dropping very slowly. I feel like my life is on hold and every time I think I’m coming to the end of the pregnancy I start losing more discharge and blood. I had to go back to the hospital 2 weeks ago in a lot of pain with suspected UTI…urine sample was clear so they did an ultrasound which showed no sign of rupture so I was put on 3 day course of antibiotics in case it was a UTI. The pain cleared up within a day or so but since yesterday I’m getting pain again every time I need to go to the toilet. Has anyone else suffered symptoms like this? I’m just finding it so upsetting now that it’s dragging on so long and I feel unsure what to do…should I go see my GP to be checked for UTI or back to hospital with these pains that are coming and going. It’s just such an anxious time and I just want it to all be over with :frowning:

Dear AB1,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss and appreciate how drawn out and frustrating expectant management can be.
Pain is very subjective so if you are concerned, we always advise to seek medical advice.
If the pain is severe or you feel dizzy and unwell, we would always advise to attend A&E or call 999.
I hope the pain settles and your levels continue to drop, so you can be discharged from monitoring soon.
Best wishes,
Karen x
