I wondered if anybody knows how long after surgery you can return to yoga? I wasn’t really given any clear information on 'normal life’s activities when I was discharged. I had surgery 3 weeks ago. I’m particularly cautious about yoga as it involves a lot of stretching of the core and I don’t want to set myself back. Thank you x
When I went for my post op visit 6 weeks after surgery my doctor told me I could go back doing whatever I was doing before. Anyway…for a while did not feel like doing much because I still had some sore and pain. I began doing yoga about 6 months later and really helped me relax and deal with my emotions too.
If the doctor says it’s fine I guess you can do what you feel like doing.
I am sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and will do my best to help. While I appreciate that feeling of wanting to “get back to normal”, you have done exactly the right thing in asking about exercise at such a delicate time. With experiencing an ectopic pregnancy, your body is going through a challenging ordeal and it is important to take things easily during your treatment.
With surgery, please allow time for your body to heal internally after the invasive procedure. If you had keyhole surgery, you could start gentle exercise within two weeks of the operation. If you had open surgery then you should wait six weeks for your abdomen to heal. Please however, take things easy. Start off slowly and work up gently.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Like you my mind wanted to get back to yoga and all my other exercise classes as soon as possible. But my body didn’t, everyone is different so you must listen to your body, you will know what’s right. Going for walks is good enough for a couple months I feel. Let your body heal xx
