Hello
It’s almost 4 weeks after I done laparoscopy, my tube did not rapture but the doctor had to operate on it to remove the ectopic pregnancy.
When he was discharging me from hospital I asked him about HSG test and he said it can be done after one menstrual cycle. I heared the test can be uncomfortable, will it not be painful where they operated?
How long have you waited before doing HSG test after laparoscopy? I think I should do it at some point even though I am not TTC, just want to know if my remaining tube is ok or not, and be careful.
Dear Peaches,
Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice on your queries.
In the UK, it is not common place to test straight away following ectopic pregnancy. Doctors would usually want you to wait to try again for three months, after which, your doctor will probably encourage you to try again for 12 months if you are less than 35 or 6 months if you are over 35. Only if you do not conceive within those times would they then consider further tests and investigations. The exception to this might be if the surgeon saw something during the surgical procedure to resolve your ectopic pregnancy that they felt warranted further investigation more quickly.
We have more information on testing including HSG testing on our website here-
