What would you do?

Hi All,

I have had one ectopic pregnancy in my right tube (removed). This was from IVF.

Then I had an undiagnosed cornual/interstitial ectopic on the rights side also via IVF. I ruptured at 13 weeks and nearly lost my life, I lost over half my blood and needed a transfusion. I had emergency surgery and lost part of my uterus on the right side. My husband and I were obviously shaken up and scared by this awful experience. At the time we were in the America, the docs there told me not to get pregnant again as it wasn’t safe.

It has been 2,5 years since it happened.

I recently had a scan by a high risk specialist in London for closure and was shocked when he told me my uterus could hold a pregnancy if it implanted in the centre or left side of uterus. He actually said, it wasn’t bad at all and that I could try…

My left tube is blocked so I would need IVF if I were to try again.

I am I crazy to think of carrying again? What would you do?

Dear Gaijin,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies and losses.

I am afraid I am not medically trained so cannot comment on what you should do.

I would advise speaking to a fertility specialist and discussing all options and likely outcomes with a medical professional. I would advise taking the results of your most recent scan with you to any appointments.

I am sorry I cannot be more help and I wish you all the best,

Sending much love,

Karen x
