What if pregnant two months after Methotrexate

Hi everyone,

First off, I can’t say how helpful these forums were after my ectopic surgery in mid September 2104. It’s taken me awhile to recover and it’s been very surprising and bumpy.

I am probably paranoid, but I had unprotected intercourse late in my cycle this week (day 14, my cycles are usually 24/25 days, so late enough where I wasn’t worried) - but here I am a few days later on day 17 and have been having weird stomach pain cramps for 24 hours. I’m sure I’m being paranoid, but have this strange worry that I’m pregnant. I know I am supposed to wait three months due to the methotrexate shot I had on October 3rd (about 2 1/2 weeks after my surgery where they removed the right fallopian tube/pregnancy - my hcg started doubling again so I had to have a D&C, and then a single methotrexate shot to get rid of the fluke tissue that was still in my system.)

Does anyone know if for some reason I was, would I automatically have to get a D&C to take care of it? Or has anyone gotten pregnant two months after the methotrexate and didn’t have complications?

Thanks so much,

Jennifer

Hi,

I know this is an old post but I’m wondering what your outcome was? I’m in the same situation as you. I have this gut feeling that I’m pregnant 9 weeks after methotrexate, our contraception failed a week ago so I know it’s too early for a positive test but I just have that feeling that I am.

Hope all worked out good for you.

Hi AE-S, I just had Methotrexate last night and my doctor told me that women have had healthy pregnancies when conceiving 2 months after receiving the drug. She said it’s possible that it could cause some problems and you shouldn’t try for it until after 3 months, but that it would probably be ok if it happened. Did you find out if you’re pregnant?
