Were you told you had miscarried when it was EP?

When I was diagnosed with my EP I was in total shock because I had been told three weeks prior to that that I had miscarried.

Did anyone else get told they had miscarried when they were in fact still pg with EP?

Thanks

Sam

i was told i had miscarried and three days later i was in hospital and the following day i went to theatre. I came round and was told i had an EP. x

i was told to have a healthy and normal pg actually,

i was very worried tho

but all was normal accordin to my dr

til the pain and spottin got even worse,

and then i was sent to the er (to exclude m/c)

very confusing, from normal to ER?

still a bit dazed about that, aaah well.

I went was sent to EPU by GP after having a light bleed. My uterus was empty so they first said that either my dates were wrong or that I was having a miscarriage but they did monitor my bloods which alerted them to ectopic. I didn’t have any other symptoms - no pain etc just the bleeding and empty uterus. Eventually ectopic showed on scan but it took ages to find and hcg levels continued to rise but not by enough.

I too was told I had a complete miscarriage 2 weeks before it was confirmed as ectopic. No bloodwork was done until I showed up 2 weeks later still bleeding/not feeling right.

I wonder how much worse it has made things (more damage because it had longer to grow). I was treated with Methotrexate so don’t know.

My first ep was diagnosed as ep right off. The second ep was diagnosed as a ‘probable’ miscarriage but they knew to keep looking, and sure enough, the Hcg levels went up then down then up again, so they knew it wasn’t right and later changed to an ep diagnosis.

I’ve been lucky to have great doctors too.

My second Ep (Oct99) was diagnosed as a normal healthy pregnancy after a scan. The radiographer saw the feotus in the womb. I was back in A&E 24 hours later with pains to be told ‘sorry we made a mistake it’s not in the womb, it’s in the tube’

From what I read on the posts the test to diagnose and treatments have changed a lot in the last few years.

Yes I was told I was miscarrying and had a water infection. I didn’t even know I was pregnant but felt really ill, pain to right of my tummy and had been bleeding for 10 days (blood was unusual). The walk in centre told me they were 99% sure I was having an ectopic and sent me to A&E, A&E dismissed it and said I would be in a lot more pain if it was ectopic. Two days later my tube ruptured :frowning:

this is exactly what happened to me, i bled and was told i’d miscarried then a week later my hcg had gone up again and there was still nothing in my womb so they wanted to do an investigative op and they found the ectopic right at the end of my tube, they said it was millimetres from the end of my tube and that it was a day or two from bursting, that was a year ago this weekend

I went to NHS direct, who sent me to my emergency GP but when I spoke to her she left it to me to decide whether I needed to see her, so as I had no idea what was wrong, I allowed her to persuade me to wait till the next day to see my GP. She told me it was a miscarriage and sent me home. I went back two weeks later saying I’d had the said bleeding, but was still in pain. I was sent home again after a brief prod, saying that if it was an ectopic then I’d jump off the table. It was ‘just my body returning to normal’.

Four hours later when I was back home the pain returned, more severe, and I was breathless and faint. I called an ambulance and the hospital suspected it straight away, and operated as soon as they cuold find a doctor (in the middle of the night), as my bp was so low and my temp became hypothermic they were panicking that I was not going to survive the night.

PS I can’t seem to vote in the poll - when I click the link, I just get the results graph (I’m v interested in the results too though).

I was told I miscarried at 7 weeks which I believed I did after passing tissue in the shower. Ultrasound showed uterus had recently been pregnant. But that ovaries and tubes were normal. I had another ultrasound at 10 weeks which said miscarriage was complete ovaries and tube normal. Then at 12 weeks I was operated on to remove 12 week mass from right tube.

So was very likely a heterotopic pregnancy.

Yep this happened to me as well! i went to my docs with pains not knowing i was even pregant he said do a pregancy test it could be a eptopic. done test after work at 10pm said posative rang 24hr docs went down there done another test said pregant doc felt my tummy said no defo not eptopic u wouldnt be able to walk becoz of the pain go to see your doc if the pain gets worse. went home tried to sleeep woke up pain was worse then ever booked to see my normal doc. he sent me stright up hospital your having a eptopic he said so i rushed up hospital done lots of scans and blood tests stayed in 2 nights i started to bleed but only a little bit told the nurse next morning more blood taken then in the afternoon they came and told me that i could go home i have had a miscraige my bloods dropped my 1000 over night. they told me i had to come back in a week for a check up! went in a week later. another pregancy test still said posative more blood taken they told me to go home they would call be within 2hrs to let me know the results 7hrs later phone rang need u to get up hosital bloods have gone back up we dont know whats going on need to watch u over night. so back up hospital next moring they done the opperation with the camera to see what was going on thats when they found the eptopic. been on work for 6weeks now! if only that had found this in the first place! i was just getting losing over my baby through miscraige then i was having one removed from my left tube!!!

Hi Guys,

Yes, I was told I’d miscarried at 5 weeks then rushed to the hospital at 8 weeks due to tube rupture from ectopic.
