Two lost babies x x

For my two lost babies - 23 Jan 06 and 2 June 06

I’m not gone

Don’t cry for me,

now that I’m free.

Just look around anywhere,

and that is where I’ll be.

For I am the daylight,

when the sun starts to rise.

I am the bright rainbow,

you’ll see with your eyes.

I’m the tiny raindrops,

that sprinkle in the wind.

I’ll always be here with you,

for there really is no end.

I’m the dew that’s on the ground,

and the quiteness all around.

Yes, I am so very happy,

with this new life I have found.

I’m the peaceful summer breeze,

that flows softly through the trees.

I’m the bluebird in the sky,

that sings with such ease.

Yes, I am so very happy,

so happy to be free.

Understand me my dear Mummy,

and don’t you cry for me.

~ Sheila Pearce (adapted).

Mummy x x

Oh Sarah, that’s beautiful. Brought a lump to my throat.

Holding you close today honeypie.

PS It reminded me a litte of another poem; do you know it -

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there. I did not die.

Or, another version:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,

I am the softly falling snow.

I am the gentle showers of rain,

I am the fields of ripening grain.

I am in the morning hush,

I am in the graceful rush

Of beautiful birds in circling flight,

I am the starshine of the night.

I am in the flowers that bloom,

I am in a quiet room.

I am in the birds that sing,

I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there. I do not die.
