TTC post mtx

Hi,

I had an ectopic pregnancy in April post ovulation induction. I was given methotrexate 1 dose and got my negative hcg result in first wk of May. But I stopped taking all supplements and now my specialist wants me to start with ovulation induction straight away. I am not sure if this is right to do so, as I have not had folic acid for 4 months now, even though i start taking from today. Also I have not had any periods, which is usual for me and hence required ovulation induction. Not sure if this is the right thing to do.

Looking for suggestions and recommendations.

Thanks

Hi RV35,

I’m sorry to hear about your recent ectopic pregnancy and loss. It is very natural to have questions about ttc after our experiences. Unfortunately, I’m not medically qualified to comment upon your specific situation. I encourage you to ask more questions at your next appointment to understand more clearly why they believe now is the correct time. As you mentioned, you have only just restarted folic acid and you have some hesitations on the timing. It’s important to listen to our instincts, especially with ttc. It’s absolutely right to take it in your own time.

We are here for you for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele
