Hello, it was confirmed on 16th October 2022 I had an eptopic pregnancy but found it very small at 13mm started methotrexate treatment on 17th October 2022 unfortuantly after 7 days my HCG levels only dropped by 10% so another shot of methotrexate was required and started again on 25th October 2022 and luckily HCG number have fallen nicely this time and everything should now just drop to 0 with regular blood tests.
Me and my husband want to try again as soon as it is safe to. Having methotrexate has scared me a bit as I know it is very harmful to another pregnancy is waiting 3 months to then try again ok? And would not harm the future pregnancy? So would we be okay to try straight away again on 25th January ?
Dear Georgia,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
The doses of methotrexate used to treat ectopic pregnancy are comparatively small when it is used for other reasons, however it can affect the quality of cells. We therefore advise to take folic acid supplements for 12 weeks, starting once your hCG levels have fallen to pre-pregnancy levels (below 5mIU/mL)
I hope this helps and we also have more information on trying to conceive following ectopic pregnancy on our website here-

Sending much love,
