Hello… I have just recovered from an ectopic pregnancy treated with expectant management.
I am still prety shaken up since this was my first pregnancy and I went through an emotional rollercoaster.
I would really appreciate some help concerning the following matter.
Two months ago I ovulated from my left ovary and the egg was picked up from my right fallopian tube.
I wonder why is that. Is it because there is a problem with my left tube and it is not functioning properly?
Could this be the reason behind my ectopic pregnancy?
If any of you ladies had a similar experience I would love to hear about it.
Sending love, courage and patience to all of you out there.
Hi VeraPera,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss. I know this can be a very confusing time, and these boards are filled with women who have also, sadly, experienced it. Especially in these early days, it’s so important to look after yourself physically and emotionally.
While I am not a medical doctor and have limited information on your history, I can say and as you’ve mentioned, the each month as we ovulate, the egg can be picked up by either Fallopian tube. In your case, as the ectopic was managed expectantly, both of your tubes are remaining.
While there are certain factors that increased the risk of ectopic pregnancy (https://www.ectopic.org.uk/patients/rea … pregnancy/), in many cases there is no direct cause and the pregnancy was not viable. In my experience, I sought to find definite answers, and came to realize that sadly some pregnancies do not last. Overtime, I have gotten more comfortable with this rationale, but it has taken some time.
I would certainly encourage you to keep a list of questions you might have and speak to your doctor about them as they would have the best knowledge of your medical history.
With good wishes,
Michele

Hi, I also chose expectant management after right sided tubal ectopic. This is what my Gyno has told me but everyone is different. To quote her “your tube is knackered”
That was hard to hear but she did say that the body is extremely cleaver and can pick up from the other side if it feels it will work better. One month after my HCG returned to non pregnant there was still a sac in my tube. It is now 3 months later and I will go for another scan to see if it has gone/shrunk. She gave me the ok to try again but it’s been 3 months and I am yet to conceive which is extremely frustrating as I didn’t even try last time.
Hello Michelle and thank you so much for your reply.
I guess that sometimes shitty things happen and an ectopic can be just that.
I am just trying to get some answers because I am so scared that it will happen again in the future.
@marmoannie I am so sorry for your loss. I understand completely how you are feeling. Try to stay positive and give yourself and your body some time to heal.
Can I ask you a question? How long after your HCG dropped to zero did you have your period?
Vera Pera I’m pretty sure it was 15 days. My cycles have been approx 33 days since.
