Thinking about trying again. Only had one monthly cycle since surgery. Feeling much more positive and upbeat. I know the advice says wait at least 3 months.
Just wondering if anyone started after one month and how people got on? Feeling nervous and excited.
I very much understand that strong desire to conceive however as a gentle reminder regarding conceiving again, we and many medical professionals advise waiting for two menstrual cycles. It is important to allow time for your body to recover and emotions to surface and be worked through. This is so that you have some comfort that your body is returning to its natural rhythm and you have a last menstrual period date from which to date a new pregnancy - key information in checking you are not suffering from an ectopic pregnancy in the future. The first bleed soon after surgery for ectopic pregnancy is not classed as a period as it is the body’s response to falling hormone levels.
Sending much love,

I had my first period which was definetly a period 4 weeks after surgery or 6 weeks after my first big bleed. But you guys don’t seem to think it was my period? I know what the advice is and I appreciate your help. I’m currently ovulating right now (always new before the ectopic when this happened). So surely that was Defo my first period?
It’s hard as the hospital say you can start trying straight away along with the early pregnancy unit, my doctor said the same but the trust suggest waiting.
Suppose I just need to go with my own gut feeling.
My advice is to go with your gut, at times I’ve had conflicting info from EPAU, GP and charities and I think all base their evidence on slightly different protocols. At the time it was difficult bc I was anxious and wanting a clear answer but learning sometimes the answer is to listen to different opinions, and then go with what YOU feel.
For me this wasn’t about conception but about expectant management and things like whether I should be taking vitamin folic acid supplements etc (GP said yes, EPAU said doesn’t matter either way, Trust generally recommends no during expectant management)
Hey, after my ectopic surgery I thought I had my period 4 weeks after:… it was heavier and painful but I realised it wasn’t my period but the hormones falling. The GP shredding of the uterus …then the next bleed was lighter that was my period…
