After having what seemed like a normal period we flew to majorca for a family holiday. I started to get right sided pains and a little bleeding whilst there i put it down to the flight and the change in routine and weather. when we got back i was still getting faint pains i whent to the gp who prescribed the pill!!! Knowing my own body i took myself back and he sent me straight to the hospital.By this time i was having shoulder tip pains and a little short of breath. :frowning:

While on holidays I got very ill, and had a pain on one side of my tummy. I thought it was just a bug, but then bled for 1/2 a day afterwards. I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time, but looking back that was the first sign of the ectopic.

the bleeding started first - and then I started to get really bad - what I thought was - trapped wind pain.

I started getting pains n one side which i first thought was trapped wind but the pain worsened.

just abnormal bleeding. I never had any pain, shoulder pain, or dizziness.

I never had any one sided pain. I had some very strange cramps in, of all places, my bum. I couldn’t walk, then the bleeding started.

I found it very scary, i have to say, as I just had the tiniest bit of bleeding and a very minor crampy pain on one side. So glad I decided to go and get it checked out. Felt a wee bit faint, but no more so than in my previous pregnancy.

I came off the pill and had what i thought was a normal period. I didnt realise that the prune juice like colour was a symptom. 4w later i missed my period. Got a slight BFP and then started bleeding brown blood at what i thought was 4w 2d but was actually 9w2d. Tube ruptured at 11w

well mine i was incredibly naive and doctor was amazingly useless. I noticed i was pregnant. I remember now having horrid pains in my stomach after sex and for some time before my EP ruptured id had a load of discharge and very slight bleeding. I knew nothing so never connected these things in my mind. It was only on xmas day 06 id been fine all day was at OHs house, was about to walk home literally was at the door when i had a weird stabbing stitch like pain that progressed withing minutes to terrible pain. I passed out at the hospital and they rushed me to see the docs. It wasnt until the next morning i finally was taken in for surgery by which time itd fully ruptured

i had horrible cramping the day i got my bfp which i was only 4 wks 2 dys maybe. i remember walking around the store with my friend and i had to sit down because a wave of nausea and like a hot flash came over me. the cramping felt like a bad case of diahrea and i remember my friend telling me it was normal because she cramped all the time with ehr daughter in the beginning of pregnancy but i had never had that with any of mychildren. i got this pain 3x during this ectopic pregnanc which finally ruptured at 7 wks 2 dys it would come and as quickly as it would come it would go and i would be fine. tis was my first ectopic. with my second ectopic that was also one of the first signs. waling around the mall with my SP i had to sit down because i had started cramping and this was also very early at about 4 wks 3 dys. very in tuned to my body after the first one. i knew something was wrong. also pai was not one sided it was very low in pelvic area in center for me with both very arly on. (i think i posted this previously on wrong board)

I was two days late for my period and felt pregnant.

woke up at 5am and did a pregnancy test. I did not check it. Went back to sleep. I woke up went into the bathroom and was bleeding. My husband had seen the test when he had woken up. He was so excited that it was positive. If I had never have done the test. I hate hospitals so you would have never have got me there.

I didnt know i was pregnanty until rupture point-however in hindsight, i had a period, which tailed off into the classic ‘prune juice’. I always had odd periods anyway, so thought nothing of it. Day of rupture i went to college complaining of ‘period pains’-i remember saying to a male friend. Then it progressed into what i thought was severe trapped wind. Turns out it was the rupture. It was weird, a few days after being in hospital, before surgery, I had a massive (i mean massive) bleed, which the doctor said was a miscarriage. It wasnt til my blood results came back and they told me my levels were still high and i had to come back into hospital. At this point it was 4 days later and i was in the middle of a job interview when they rang! I was talking to the lady who interviewed me and she was saying her SIL had one, but had 3 other kids after

The hospital were useless.

I got the job though

On the Saturday I had started my period, it was a week late but in December I had two peiods so I assumed my body was adjusting my period dates.

On the Sunday I had severe tummy cramps and incredibly bad shoulder pains, also had diarreah and sickness thrown in to really put my body in a spin-Dr thought it was a viral bug, SO pleased 2nd Dr did preg test otherwise I might not be here today

My period was late so did hpt and had faint bfp, so went to doctors, they did pt which was bfn. So still no af a week later i did another hpt and was also getting terrible pains like spasms and stitch all in one. So bad that would take to bed.

Back to doctors, pt was bfp and i told him about pain, he said was prob urine infection. At 9 and half weeks i collapsed at home and the only way i can describe pain was like a ripping through my entire stomach. At no point though did i have a bleed. The shoulder tip pain started when i was in hospital.

Daily ‘prune juice’ type loss which started the day period was due. I managed to convince myself it was an implantation bleed. Also urine pregnancy tests were always a little faint although hcg was rising well, so convinced myself that was OK too! In the back of my mind I knew things weren’t quite right but I ignored it. Never had much in the way of pain, but at 6 weeks pregnant whilst at work I suddenly had a strong cramp which felt almost rectal, it passed quickly but left me feeling something was very very wrong indeed. Went straight down to the EPAU at work and the ectopic was diagnosed. :frowning:

Afterwards I beat myself up for not recognising it sooner. But I think I wanted to be pregnant so much I just convinced myself everything would work out and ‘it won’t happen to me!’

I had one sided pain, plus really nad pain in my leg/groin. About an hour after the pain started I had some spotting.

Surgery for EP was 5 days later.

with both my ectopics, I had an implantation bleed around 14 days post AF. No other symptoms until I ruptured and even then just a little spotting. With my second ep last august, I just had a gut feeling that it was an ectopic again from the bleed post AF.

Isn’t it strange that only 2% of experienced the most common EP symptom.

I wonder if this is because doctors are more cautious these days so people are treated before this symptom occurs?

I never bled atall, but I think deep down I knew it wasnt right, just didnt want to believe it.
