Just wondered if anyone knows anything about scar tissue, can’t seem to find answers.
I had a ruptured ectopic last November (7months ago) and am now pregnant again (yeay) I’m 8weeks +3 and have had a scan and saw my baby it was the most wonderful feeling but I feel really anxious, I keep getting pains on the same side that I had my tube removed, like an ache and sometimes like a poking sort of pain, I can’t stop worrying about this, has anyone had similar? Do you think this could be due to scar tissue?? I mentioned it at 8 week scan and the dr just sort if shrugged and I’m left with this anxiety, any advice would be very welcome! Xxx
I think it probably is scar tissue pain (also called adhesions).
I’m 5 weeks pregnant after ectopic & left tube removal in February, and I’m getting lots of pains too, especially a sort of stabby pain in my left side which is probably similar to what you’re describing. I went to see my gp today and she was confident that it’s likely to be scar tissue. I haven’t had a scan yet though so can’t say for sure wats going on for me.
I don’t think you need to worry, especially if the Dr didn’t seem worried, but if it gets really bad then do go back and tell the Dr again (or if it’s really unbearable go to a&e).
Congrats on the pregnancy and I really hope all goes smoothly for you! I know how scared you’re probably feeling right now, I sure am!!!
Congratulations to you too and I’m sorry you are going through the same thing, I just feel worried all the time! It’s like an ache and then like a sort of stabbing/poking sort of pain
I have had a scan and they couldn’t see any scar tissue or anything but she said that’s not uncommon as it’s really hard to see on ultrasound so that didn’t give me any answers annoyingly!
Would just love a definitive answer, the ectopic lady year turned my world upside down and I thought once I saw this scan and the little heartbeat I would feel better but actually it’s made my anxiety worse about the fear of another loss :0( seeing midwife a week today so might try and just ignore the pains until I see them as I don’t want to go to my dr as I think I’ll look like a panicked idiot
I really hope everything goes well for you and thank you so much for taking the time to reply xxx
Hiya. Have just found out I am pregnant again 3 months after surgery. I am five weeks tomorrow. Am getting like a dull ache all over and occasionally standby pains on right (my good side!) saw gp yesterday who said she wasn’t worried but can’t have a scan for another week and a half. I’m trying to stay calm but it’s hard. I started bleeding at 5 weeks last time so I know it’s silly but I have a kind of paranoia about starting to bleed tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
Tess, you and I are in the same boat! I lost mine at 5 weeks and then had an ectopic. So for this one I just want to make it past the next two weeks. My doctors keep telling me it’s early and there is a huge chance for another miscarriage, so it’s all I think about. I just keep sending thoughts to it, to hang on.
Hi all! Timing of this post is a massive bonus. Just did a test today and got my positive. My left tubeless side has niggled and twinged since my rupture and removal in Dec. I noticed it a lot when the niggles died down and have been calmer throughout this past month. Still there but not as intense. So tomorrow I’ll ring the EPU and take it from there. I’ve no idea of procedure other than waiting for week 6 (next Thurs). Wondering if they may want bloods??? New territory again. My plan is to not get excited, anything could happen, but we all know what’s in our heads resembles a whirlwind of what ifs and feeling every little grumble in the abdomen sets it off. First pregnancy resulted in ectopic. Bleed started week 5, scanned and told miscarried, took bloods and bloods rose, 3 more scans and 2 weeks later before finally told ectopic. Start of week 8 methotrexate, week 9 emergency surgery. If I can get to week 6 scan that would be a bonus. Just don’t want a repeat of last 9\10mth. Best wishes all and keep posting. I’ll do the same here. This forum gives us all great Reassurance and support and love. Wish everyone well. X
Hi everyone. I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy a little over a year ago and am currently 27weeks pregnant. Drs have told me how lucky I am to have gotten pregnant so I feel guilty when I complain but I have been in so so so much pain. Started about 2 momths ago getting severe. Sharp pains on the right side (opposite side of tubal removal) and then it turned in to both sides and I’m the middle just over all lower pelvic pain. So bad I could barely walk. Drs say its round ligament pain plus scar tissue but the baby is perfectly fine. Then pain in my lower back started. Drs say it is muscularskular (sp?) The pain is unbearable. They’ve put me on bed rest and put me on flexiril which doesn’t help much. I still worry that something will go wrong and I’m terrified of labor for some reason. I hope you all have successful and perfect pregnancy. Good luck!
I had an ectopic back in 2007, treated with methotrexate and kept my right tube.
Since then I’ve had a number of pregnancies and lots (I mean LOTS that have ended me up in emergent care) of cramping and pain on that right side throughout them. I do still have the tube, although have not been pregnant from that side again (likely scarred and probably not ‘useable’), but have extra scans early on to make sure that baby has implanted in the right place.
So yes, definitely extra cramping and pain due to the ectopic (but also thankfully 4 healthy pregnancies after that).
