Pregnant after previous ectopic 6 years ago

Hello all,
6 years ago, I sadly had an ectopic pregnancy where I fell pregnant on the coil and never knew until I got to 16 weeks and it ruptured. I had emergency surgery and had a tube removed.
Still with the same partner and recently married, we decided to try for a baby.
I knew it was always going to be an anxious time, but fell pregnant within three months and was over the moon but also felt sick with worry.
3 days after finding out I got a small amount of brown and then pink discharge. I also had a slight bit of pain, which I wondered whether it was constipation. I went to A&E where they took my HCG which was 95 and then booked me for a scan for Monday.

I went Monday and nothing could be seen in my uterus or anywhere else so they presumed I was too early. They tested my HCG again which had risen to 215 and my progesterone level was 50. They told me to have another scan in the week.

No bleeding or discharge since my A&E visit but just a dull heaviness on my left side and in my hip/ leg which does feel like sciatica. The corpus cyst I was told was on this side.

My scan is tomorrow and I am an anxious wreck. I’m desperately trying to stay positive but in the back of my mind I know that I am at a slightly higher risk of an ectopic because of having one before…

Dear Pixee,
I completely understand why you feel so worried, especially with the early bleed. This however can be quite common in early pregnancy and does not always mean you are experiencing another ectopic pregnancy.
I also felt discomfort when i next fell pregnant, i think we have a heightened sense of awareness. Although this is also common, I would advise seeking urgent medical advice with any worsening symptoms or if you are concerned at all.
I will be sending lots of positive thoughts for your scan tomorrow,
Best wishes,
Karen x

Hi,
How did your scan go today? Hope all was well.

Hello,
I was so anxious this morning, but as soon as the probe hit my tummy, we could see the small sac and yolk… it was the most unreal feeling.
I’m still extremely early and even though the anxiety of it being ectopic has slowly felt better, I have now moved on about feeling anxious about other things!
Thank you for asking

Dear Pixiee,
I’m so happy to hear the scan went as well as it could at this stage.
Sending continued positive thoughts for your next scans.
Best wishes,
Karen x
