Positive text started spotting

Got a positive test on 02.05.2023. I started spotting on 03.05.2023 for about 2 hours then nothing at all then started spitting again just now on 04.05.2023. Really worried something bad is happening I have got really positive tests. Only about 4 weeks period due on 05.05.2023 but got 8 positive tests. Doctors won’t do anything till 6 weeks. Don’t know what to do. I have no pain or heavy bleeding. I have a healthy 2.5 year old and had no bleeding with her. Only with my extopic which was October 2022. Please help with advice!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your previous ectopic and your current spotting. It’s a stressful time when you’re waiting for a scan.

I also have a two year old, had an ectopic last year and just found out I’m pregnant on Monday.

I really wish you good luck for this pregnancy. If you’re worried about spotting you should go in and get seen xx

Hi Georgia,

I’m so sorry you are going through this worrying time.

I know how challenging this time period can be, especially following an ectopic pregnancy. As best as you can, I hope you can find ways to look after yourself and take it as easy as possible. With ectopic recovery, sometimes it takes even longer than we think it will. Our sensitivities can be extra heightened since we’ve experienced the trauma before.

It’s good that you’ve been in touch with the EPU, and continue to ask your Drs any questions you might have. I know you already understand the signs of rupture, but do continue to look out and don’t hesitate to call 111, or visit A&E should you need.

These are traumatic events and new pregnancies can trigger old feelings. If you and your partner need extra time, take it. With this in mind, please remember we are here for you at any time you need.

With good wishes,

Michele

Thank you both we was so excited when we got the positive but now full of worry as I was spotting. But the spotting has appeared to stop and still getting very positive tests. Could you offer any advice at all on what it could be at all as I can’t seem to do anything for another week. Thank you

Dear Georgia,

I am so sorry to hear of the worrying time you are going through. Unfortunately we are not able to provide medical advice but I have added a link to an NHS site here

https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/related-co … -bleeding/

As it says spotting during early pregnancy can be quite common and doesn’t always mean there is anything to worry about. When you say doctors won’t do anything, I would advise calling your early pregnancy unit and reminding them of your previous ectopic pregnancy and current symptoms and concerns.

If you develop any further bleeding or abdominal discomfort, shoulder tip pain or you feel dizzy and unwell, please seek urgent medical advice.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Thank you Karen! I only had spotting for 2 hours that didn’t turn into bleeding so I am really keeping hopeful! Managed to get an early scan and bloods on Monday so I am keeping everything crossed for a healthybaby in the right place!

Dear Georgia,

I am glad to hear that you have an early scan and bloods booked. It maybe that it is too early to see anything on the scan so do not worry, if they want to check bloods again in a few days to see what the trend in your hCG levels is.

We will be thinking of you tomorrow and sending lots of positive thoughts,

Karen x

Thank you so much, I am absolutely thrilled to say that it isn’t an ectopic and it is in the right place. Could see the gestinal sac and yolk sac but not a heartbeat yet as too early but kindly booked me in for another scan next week. But everything is exactly as it should be and I am so relieved!!!

Dear Georgia,

This is such good news. Thank you for keeping us updated too. I am continuing to send positive thoughts for your next scan

Sending much love,
