Hello, I had surgery 1st July to remove my right tube as i had an ectopic pregnancy. I was told by one doctor to wait for 2 periods before trying again. Another doctor said to wait 12 weeks before trying to conveive again.
My first period arrived 2 weeks after my op, which was very heavy but only lasted for about 4 days. I was surprised everything I have read says your period returns 4-6 weeks post op. I spoke to EPAU and they said its normal because my HCG levels were so low.
Has anyone else had a period so soon after surgery?
I’m due my next period 13th August as I track and I know I ovulated.
That would mean I would have had two periods and will be fertile and ready to concieve again around 3rd week of August. I’m desperte to try again but I wonder if this is too soon for my body? Should I wait for a third period?
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss.
While there is no clear, researched evidence on how long a couple should wait to try to conceive after having treatment for ectopic pregnancy, we and other medical professionals advise that it may be best to wait for at least three months or two full menstrual cycles (periods) before trying to conceive for both physical and emotional reasons. The bleed that occurs in the first week or so of treatment for an ectopic pregnancy is not your first period. It is the bleed that occurs in response to falling hormones associated with the lost pregnancy.
