Pains 11 months on! Hot flashes !

Hi all.

I had an ectopic in January this year, tube removed via surgery.

Ever since my op i have had continuous pains in my stomach. Pulling sensations and also pains that mimic the same pain when I experienced the ectopic. I often feel pains on the he opposite side to where my tube was removed which sends me in to panic as I start thinking it’s going to happen again.

I also feel super ill in the mornings some days where I feel sick and drowsy and my stomach is hurting and it’s so draining and frustrating.

I have seen my gp and theyve said it’s adhesions and surgery will probably not improve it. I also experience all the time hot flashes, I am only 26 and do not have a history in my family of early menopause but my god I feel like I am going through it. It happens all the time I can be normal one minute then sweating the next.

I’m just really fed up of feeling crappy .

Xxx

Dear Kjm3691,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and your continued discomfort.

Experiencing some pain after an ectopic pregnancy is normal as your body has been through a great deal. As your Dr has mentioned the pain may be due to adhesions (scar tissue that binds two parts of the body together) which form and take some time to settle. Your body may be preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through.

I know you have already seen your GP however if the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors again with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.

Sadly I am not medically trained, I cannot give you specific advice on your symptoms of tummy pain, feeling sick and drowsy and I would advise speaking to your GP about these. If you are concerned about early menopause, there are blood tests that can be taken to check this but there maybe other reasons why you are feeling this way and it would be best to chat to GP.

Sending much love,

Karen x
