Hi all, I had a laparoscopy 4 weeks ago today, still waiting for AF to arrive. I’ve been taking OPK tests to see what my cycle is like and yesterday I got a +ve OPK. Today I had a really bad pain in my right side (I lost my left tube), it made me hunch over at one point as it was so painful. I took an ibuprofen and it went thereafter.
Is this normal? I felt ovulation twinges before but it’s never been painful.
Hi…sorry to hear you suffered an ectopic. I also had ectopic in January this year and lost part of my left tube. For months after I had painful ovulation to the point where I would struggle to walk! Apparently this pain is more heightened in women who have suffered an ectopic. At least it’s a sign for us to get baby making every month! It did ease for me after about 3 months and was less painful.
Hope it feels better for you soon x
Hi
I had a laparotomy 10 weeks ago as my ectopic had ruptured and was bleeding too badly for keyhole surgery. My first period came 4 weeks after surgery. I had my right tube removed but I have been geting pain on my left
side. I’ve never had ovulation pain,I was concerned so saw the doctor. The pain came a week before my period was due and came back during my period. It felt like it was near my hip bone. She said it was ovulation pain and menstrual related with everything geting back to normal
X
Dear Terrysno2
Just to add to what has already been shared - it is common for women to report pain at ovulation after an ectopic pregnancy. This may be because we are understandably more attuned to pains and twinges after the experience we have had. Or it could also be because of “adhesions” or scar tissue left after the surgery. This may sound scary but it is very common and should not cause any problems. It usually settles down as your body heals. However, If the pain is too severe to be handled by over the counter painkillers then please do seek medical advice.
