Pain in leg after surgery

Hi all,

Firstly I’d like to say sorry if your having to through an ectopic pregnancy or been through one :pensive:, but it’s nice to have a platform like this where we can post.

I had my right tube removed about a week ago, and I seem to be having pain and twitches in my right leg (upper thigh). I’ve started to walk and trying to move around but it’s a strange pain. I would like call the unit where I had my operation, but with covid I don’t really want to put the nhs in any more strain. I’m wondering if anyone else has had these pains?

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,

Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you an answer to your leg pain.

After an operation, people often get aches and pains in places they did not expect to, such as the back, neck, hips and legs can all be very sore. The staff in the operating theatre take great care of you when you are asleep and try to move you into the positions they need you to be in very gently. However, because your muscles are very relaxed as a result of the anaesthetic, sometimes muscles can ache for several days after your surgery. Take it easy, take the pain relief you were given in hospital and your aches should resolve over a few days.

Although I do not wish to alarm you, leg pain may also be a sign of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), so

I would strongly advise that you speak to your epu or GP as soon as you can. Getting answers from a medical professional will also put your mind at rest.
