Hi there, I’m 13 weeks post off and still haven’t had a period. I thought something was happening at week 7 because I had discharge like I do around the time I ovulate. I’m going to seek advice from my GP when they open on Tuesday but just wondering if anyone else experienced a delay in periods returning? I’m not stressing over it as I know each body is different. Had an ectopic pregnancy and had surgery to remove my right tube.
Dear elew26,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Your periods can take a while to re-establish - they can re-start anything between two and ten weeks after surgery and most women find that their period arrives sometime around week six or seven after surgery. As you have mentioned, this is an average and for some women it can be a little later.
I hope you don’t mind, but I thought I’d mention that before having a period you have to ovulate and it is possible to become pregnant without having a proper period first, if you are not using contraception. If you have been having unprotected intercourse, I would advise taking a pregnancy test in the first instance.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Hi there
Thanks for your reply. Yes I was informed in the hospital to use contraception until I have my first period but to be honest we have decided to wait until I have a period before having sex. It’s been 14 weeks now so I’m waiting to hear back from my GP to see if this is normal.
Thank you x
Hey,
I’m experiencing the exact same thing! I still haven’t had a period yet. I had my right Fallopian tube removed as well… and I am 6 weeks post op… I know they said between 6-7 weeks… but I’m starting to worry about my period. I am not on any contraception, but I know I’m not pregnant. I just went to the dr to confirm. I’m ready for my body to feel normal again.
