I found out on Monday that my rainbow baby is ectopic, I had the methotrexate injection on Tuesday, since then I’ve suffered with a little cramping which goes away with paracetamol and am having ‘old brown discharge’ and occasional fresh blood.
Should I be worried that I haven’t started a more bigger bleed or having worse cramps as of yet? All I feel is a pressure in my stomach like I need to go to the toilet for a poo however am a little constipated because it hurts to try.
I just want this ordeal to be over with so I can start to heal and get my head around everything that has happened with both my losses the past 3 months
I’m so sorry you are going through another pregnancy loss. Was your prior also ectopic?
I wouldnt worry about the methotrexate not creating a big bleed or severe cramping. My experience was I was bleeding a little before I had the methotrexate injection, had it and the bleeding didn’t increasing nor the cramping but it still worked, I went from 4600 to 3000 in a week. This was over xmas 2022. I too didn’t expect nothing in that area to happen after the injection.
When is your first hcg check at the hospital? I think it’s meant to be 3 days after. Hopefully they tell you your hcg is dropping.
Depending on your hcg levels if they’re quite high it will take several weeks to get down to near 0. Mine took 10 weeks post injection to get to below 10. It’s hard but you will get through this and as you say can start healing once your body is post loss.

My first was a miscarriage in April of this year, my HCG was 1500 on Monday, had the injection Tuesday and have had my day 4 bloods taken this morning just awaiting results via phone call in the next couple of hours. I did ask the nurse who took my bloods this morning about the symptoms or lack of and she did reassure me that it is normal at this stage after the injection so fingers crossed my levels will drop either today or after my bloods again on Tuesday
They say with the first blood test 4 days after the injection that they expect your hcg to increase slightly (mine didnt it dropped) so if that happens don’t worry then at least a 15% decrease on day 7 and then once a week hcg blood tests. Once that happens they are confident that your hcg will drop to 0 in the coming weeks.

My hCG increased by 2000! :?
The doctor called me back in as they were concerned at first but as I have no pain/bleeding they were happy to let me come home and just have my bloods repeated on Tuesday as planned.
I’m praying that I see a drastic drop on day 7 but I just don’t think it will drop as significantly as I need it to.
I just wish I had some sort of bleeding as I think that would make me feel a bit easier
I’ve started drinking green tea and am trying to eat a low folate diet as I read somewhere that may help ( I don’t know if it does but I feel a little more in control by doing this🫣)

I’m sorry to hear your hcg increased by 500. That is quite a bit but you never know it may drop by 15% by your day 7 it is still possible. If it doesn’t they will very likely offer you another injection. I know its not what you want to hear but it’s the option other than surgery.
I know I was told not to have folic acid and decrease anything that contained it so you are doing everything right. It really is a waiting game. I have my fingers crossed for you that there is a big drop day 7.
