Ectopic Pregnancy

Hi im new here. I had an ectopic pregnancy 2 years ago when i had severe pain and bleeding and methotrexate was given. Unfortuantely, i just had another ectopic pregnancy that was discovered on thursday and bhcg was 2200 so methotrexate was given. Before this discovery i had pain, little spotting and bloating

I am concerned because after methotrexate i only have very little once or twice a day brown spotting or brownish blood discharge while i pee. There is no heavy or sufficient bleeding

But overall i feel weakness but no serious symptoms like severe pain etc. Thank GOD. I will hv bhcg on 4th day tomorrow. I hope it will be lowered. Just was worried abt bleeding part. Is it ok not to bleed? :frowning:

TIA and much love to evryone who faced this time :frowning:

Hey, I’m in the exact same position 2nd ectopic first one was 2 years ago. I got my day 4 bloods today and I asked the nurse if it was a bad sign I’m not bleeding only spotting every so often, she assured me that everyone’s different and some people don’t even bleed at all and to only go by what my hcg levels do between day 4-7 so to not worry. Hope this helps.

Dear Hina,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,

Not experiencing vaginal bleeding after being treated with methotrexate is not something you have to be too worried about. Some will not experience bleeding as a side effect with this medical treatment option.

To check that the treatment is working, it is important to attend regular appointments with your healthcare professionals to have your hCG levels monitored. Having said that the hCG level often rises on the day four blood test because the action of methotrexate is not instantaneous. The cells therefore, will have continued to divide for two or three days after the injection was given, and some cells release more hCG when they start to disappear. Your doctors are looking to see a drop in your hCG value of at least 15% between days four and seven. If there has not been a 15% drop, this is when the doctors will consider a second dose of methotrexate or surgery.

Dear Chloe,

I am also thinking of you and am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss too.

We have more information on methotrexate treatment on our website which I have added here which I hope you will both find useful

Thankyou for reply. Yes i have very little brown spotting only. And i had bhcg on 4th day today which showed 35% fall. Is it good enough?

Lets see on 7 day again. I hope everythimg goes well

Ectopic pregnancy is painful, and hurts everyone who goes through it mentally as well as physically. Love to all those who suffered this.

Dear Chloe, I am so sorry about your loss and I can totally understand what you are going through…do u experience a bit sore throat too? I feel a bit and think it might be injection side effect.

Sending much love and more power to you

.

Hey, yes my throat was a little scratchy feeling when swallowing for the first 4 days it has eased off now. I’m glad to hear your levels decreased on day 4 mine actually had risen so tomorrow will tell if one dose has worked or not. Its a scary time.

I hope and wish it goes down for you soon

One thing is how can we cope with this loss? Especially second time, loss of pregnancy is emotionally and mentally very hurting :frowning:

I know this is my 5th loss in total it seems to get harder with each one. It helps to know there are many others going through the same and we aren’t the only ones.

Can i ask how were you able to diagnose the current ectopic? What symptoms did u experience?

Wishing you healing and good health <3
