…even when we live in an area where we’re unlikely to get funding?
Sorry, hello if you’#re reading this, juat trying to weigh up options. I’d be really grateful to hear from any of you who’ve had to appeal to get IVF funded by the NHS. DP has children, I’ve now got no tubes and it’s our only course of pregnancy, but gotta love Staffordshire, they won’t give us a cycle.
First off sorry that you are now facing IVF - I can imagine you must have a very difficult time of it to get to this stage. But please don’t feel like there isn’t still hope, there are lots of us who have had gone through IVF who have gone to have our much wished for babies. I remember feeling really overwhelmed and frightened by how it was my only option, but found out that once I started doing research and getting preliminary tests done etc, I felt much more positive about it all because I had somehow taken a bit of control over things.
I didn’t go down the route of NHS funding as was living abroad at the time and would have been too difficult to manage treatment and so on. I also was advised that the waiting list was very long and I didn’t want to wait for ages before trying. So sorry but I can’t give advice on what to do if you are not eligible, though I guess that there is no harm in trying to appeal?
Also I don’t know how much you have looked into the cost of IVF but there are some clinics that do offer cost savings, in terms of buying a package of cycles or maybe if you are willing to consider it, egg sharing? It is a tough one to think about, but I know that it dramatically reduces the costs to you. Hope that you can make some headway whatever you decide to do.
Hi sarah im from staffs and im in the same situation as you apart from im the one with the child. I had a ep over 2 years ago and had my right tube removed and the remaining one is blocked. Im not at all able nhs ivf ive tried several times so now looking into a loan. How old are you if you dont mind me asking? The pct i find is so unfair at times as you havnt got a child, is that right? But its like they make you suffer! If you do more digging and get further than me let me know and hope you they give you a round on nhs good luck x
