IVF - Funding and number of attempts?

  • For those who have had to go through IVF, how many rounds did you have to go through to have a successful conception? we are concerned how long it will take as we will be looking at privately funding IVF next year and we are worried we wont be successful first time, just to mentally prepare for what we are likely to have to go though and for general information.

We have also been told that we do not meet the criteria within our PCT area for funded IVF as having an ectopic is classed as being able to conceive, therefore, unless we try unsuccessfully for the next two years (I will be 40 then and too old for funding!) OR I suffer another ectopic and have my remaining tube taken away, there is no way we will ever receive any funding. So we will give ourselves 6 months of ttc naturally to see what happens and then look to pay for our own IVF.

Maybe I will also do a poll to see how many people have received support/funding for fertility treatment following ectopics as i feel that there is no recognition/support whatsoever for my area. (unless you have both tubes taken away…)

IVF - Number of attempts?
  • Natural conception following ectopic - no IVF?
  • Funding for IVF but during process conceived naturally?
  • Successful after first embryo transfer during first round of IVF?
  • Successful after frozen embryo transfer within first round of IVF??
  • Successful after first embryo transfer during second round of IVF?
  • Successful after frozen embryo transfer within second round of IVF??
  • Successful after first embryo transfer during third round of IVF?
  • Successful after frozen embryo transfer within third round of IVF?
  • Successful after first embryo transfer during fourth round of IVF?
  • Successful after frozen embryo transfer within fourth round of IVF?
  • Other- more than four IVF/FET attempts to conceive successfully?
  • Other- more than four attempts and still unsuccessful to date?

Hi

I have been told that I have no funding for IVF either as I am too old at 39and 5 months and suffered 2 ectopics.

Just wanted to butt in on here and say hello to another Leah! Not responded to the poll as not yet started IVF and I’m not sure whether it will make any difference now (my PCT has just taken away funding for ANY IVF - devastated) but I would give the people that say that having an ectopic is being able to conceive a complete ear bashing and see if they won’t change their mind given your circumstances and that you would be too old according to their stoooopid criteria for funding if you ttc’d for another 2 years, makes me SO ANGRY  how they try to find all these wheedly ways of getting out of funding IVF for people who need it and are asking for help… grrrr…
