HGC levels continue to rise

OKAY -

Long story. But short. Been spotting and then bleeding (only when I urinate). I work a test Friday and then Wednesday levels were 640 Friday 8**. They have continued to rise. I got them today and they’re 2140 and yesterday they were 16**. Ultrasound hasn’t been able to identify where the pregnancy is. They feel as if it might be in my left tube. They want to be 100% sure before doing anything.

They keep saying in that 2% chance your numbers could continue to rise and you could have a pregnancy in your uterus?

I have no medical concerns or history of an ectopic.

I have a beautiful little girl.

The question is has anyone had that 2%? I’ve prayed and really out this into Gods hands. I’m trying to not let it eat on me.

Dear asnider,

Not knowing what is happening to our bodies can be extremely overwhelming and you have friends here who understand. When I conceived again after my ectopic pregnancy, my levels were lower than expected but were doubling, they prepared me for another ectopic pregnancy, however the following week, there was a little heartbeat in my uterus. So It is possible, but it is also important to realise that hCG levels are only a guide and not a diagnosis of what is happening. I

Currently your pregnancy maybe termed a Pregnancy of unknown location - (PUL). It is also important to know that this is not a diagnosis; it is a label given until the final location of the pregnancy can be identified with certainty.

In the event of a PUL, blood will be taken to measure serum progesterone and hCG and the hCG test repeated 48 hours later. The doctors would also want to repeat the scan.

Until the location of the pregnancy is known, there is a risk of complications associated with an as yet undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy. Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, for every 100 pregnancies labelled as a PUL about 10 will subsequently be found to be ectopic; but not all of these will need treatment. If treatment is required, (methotraxate injection or surgery) this will depend on the results of blood tests and scans.

For now we will continue to send positive thoughts for your next scan. Although I do not wish to alarm you, please seek urgent medical advice with any worsening bleeding or pain or.You develop shoulder tip pain or you feel dizzy and unwell.

We are here for you for as long as you need,

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x
