Help!

Hi

I have just recently found out I’m pregnant after having an ectopic pregnancy in January at 10 weeks pregnant!

The happiness I feel is indescribable!! I don’t feel nervous or scared like I thought I would.

My only concern is I don’t know what pains are classed as ‘normal’. I experienced no pains whatsoever in my previous pregnancy, the doctors were so surprised as the baby actually measured at 4cm! I had no clue there was anything wrong!

Which brings me back to what pains/discomfort is normal and when should I be concerned?

I’m booked in for my scan at 6 weeks and the early pregnancy unit have been fantastic so far!

Thanks I’m advance

Natalie

Dear Natalie,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

I would advise you seek urgent medical advice if you experience any abdominal pain, shoulder tip pain, bladder and bowel problems or feel dizzy and unwell.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x
