Hi there. Just looking for some advice and/or reassurance really. I had 1 single injection of methotrexate for my ectopic at the end of June so 3 months ago now. My hairs are always everywhere much to the annoyance of my fiancé! But today I just had a shower and so much has come out after washing my hair. There was a clump in the plughole and also a wee clump actually ran down the back of my leg with me freaking out at the feeling not knowing what it was! My immune system is shot to pieces and I’ve had infection after infection, colds, tonsillitis… everything! I’m really worried about so much hair coming out just there though. Is this common even after it was 3 months I received my injection? I’m in a total panic
First of all - hugs - I had an ectopic in mid-May, so I know just what you’re going through. It sucks.
You’re most likely experiencing something called telogen effluvium, which is essentially stress-related hair loss. Basically, when you go through something stressful, like an ectopic pregnancy, a higher than usual amount of your hair stops growing. A few months later, it falls out. I went through the same thing, with the hair loss peaking in August and September - about 3 to 4 months after being treated for the ectopic. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I’d experienced similar episodes twice before in my life - once when I was studying for the bar exam, and again when a close relative died unexpectedly - so I wasn’t too freaked out by it. The good news is that it grows back, and unless you have very thin hair to begin with, the hair loss shouldn’t be noticeable to anyone else.

I had an ectopic back in April and about two months ago I started to lose a lot of hair… at first I didn’t piece it together but after googling I realized what was going on, ugh. My hairloss is starting to slow down a bit, i hope yours does too . Bigs hugs xx
Hi there. Sorry for your loss. I had an ectopic and had the single injection of methotrexate at the start of June this year. Am the exact same as you. Losing loads of hair and getting cold after cold. Struggling to get back to myself, tired all the time too. Any advice on the best ways to build myself up again would be great.
