Dear Louise,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss. From your own words I can imagine what a frightening experience this must have been and I am so sorry you have had to go through this.
As a charity we cannot provide personalised medical advice but I will try my best to answer your questions.
My first thoughts would be regarding your wounds. If they are oozing any fluid or there is spreading redness on the skin from them or they feel hot,or you feel unwell and feverish, this could be signs of infection and you would need to seek medical advice. As a general rule, sounds can take 10 days of longer to heal. Do you have any sutures that need removal prior to travel also.
We have more advice about wound care on our website here

I would also strongly recommended that you get or inform your existing travel health insurance company of your recent surgery. If you fail to do this and need medical treatment abroad it may result in your insurance company not covering the bill.
If you are a resident of the UK and going to some European countries you can also apply for a UK EHIC card, but I just stress that this does not replace travel insurance which I strongly recommended you getting. I do not know if this EHIC card covers for pre-existing conditions.

As for sunbathing, you would need to use suntan lotion/sunscreen and I would not recommend applying this to sound areas unless they are fully healed.
I would not recommend bathing in the sea (and especially looks where you do not know how clean they are) until your sound have completely healed.
You can leave your wounds uncovered if they are healed. If any clothing runs or aggravates them you can cover them up, but as a general rule leave them uncovered to heal
There is no reason why you can’t drink alcohol (as long as your medical team haven’t told you anything different). I would suggest drinking in moderation so you don’t put yourself at risk of falls.
It is normal to feel discomfort following surgery, we have more information on this on our website here
https://ectopic.org.uk/physical-recovery/pain
For the fight, I am not a travel health specialist and would advise seeking advice from such companies with any specific concerns but I would recommend normal advice of avoiding alcohol, drinking plenty of fluids and moving your legs or moving around as much as you can. This will help you avoid Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). If you do develop pain or swelling in one leg, become short of breath of feel dizzy and unwell after any flights or long periods of travel, you must seem urgent medical advice.
I hope this helps,
Sending love love,
Karen x
