Ectopic and bowel movements

Apologies in advance for a slightly TMI post

I was diagnosed with an ectopic today (tues) though have been feeling symptoms since friday. (Ive been for 3 scans and 4 blood tests since then and it was only today that they finally confirmed it.) I have been unable to go to the toilet (#2) since about Sunday (maybe even Sat) I feel slightly constipated but its also because I’m too scared to push when I do try to go. Does anyone know if there is a risk of rupturing if I put too much pressure on? Should I take a laxative? This is making the discomfort of the ectopic even worse :frowning:

Hi there, all I remember from my ectopic is that I could not fart!! As with you apologies for tmi!! I personally would avoid laxatives, have you tried a few dried prunes or something a little less harsh??

I’m sorry about what you are going through, ectopic I mean not constipation. Look after yourself xx

Dear Nomonkeys,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss.

It is not tmi at all, we are here for you for as long as you need.

We can become constipated for a number of reasons including change in medications, diet, not drinking enough fluids and periods of immobility.

I have added an information leaflet for you here

Sadly I am not medically trained so advise you to discuss your symptoms with your GP surgery who will be best to advise you.

Sending much love,

Karen x
