Hi everyone,
First, let me say that I am sorry for your pregnancy losses. I have been reading through these threads for the past week or so and have received much hope and relief seeing that I am not alone, so thank you for sharing your journeys.
I learned I was pregnant on 1/14/19 at 4 weeks along. On 1/25 I started having awful back cramps and pink spotting that turned reddish brown and heavier throughout the weekend, then stopped. OB ordered beta HCG and progesterone bloodwork 0n 1/28 and I was seen on 1/29 in office for an ultrasound. There he determined that my pregnancy was ectopic and sent me to the ER for methotrexate injection.
On 1/28 my HCG was 1280. On 1/29 (day of MTX injection) HCG was 1399. Day 4 after MTX 2/2 HCG down to 1235. Day 7 after MTX 2/5 HCG at 1189. Saw OB today. He is not recommending another MTX injection, did not do an ultrasound, and says he feels I am progressing in a positive direction. Next step is beta HCG on Tuesday to see if levels are continuing to go down. I pushed him a bit to let me have another injection but he said no, it is too toxic and he doesn’t think I need it.
I have had some bad days and definitely some intense pain after the injection. Very little spotting. Today I am crampy and bleeding some, and hoping that means my levels are still dropping. Has anyone else had an OB hesitant to do another injection? My levels did not drop the 15% between days 4 and 7 so I don’t quite understand why he is so confident the injection is working. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
